What’s in a screen name?

Okay I thought I would make this post in regards to screen names being that I’ve run into rather more trouble leaving comments on some blogs than I would have cared for. I know this is ten times most likely due to the fact that my screen name / user name contains the word money. I know a name of MakingMoney does sound rather spammy I must admit this myself. That’s why I recently started leaving Naye at the bottom of my comments to sound more personal. Sometimes I forget to add it, if anyone knows how to make it always appear when I comment please share that tip with me in the comments here and thanks in advance if you could be of any help with this.

I have tried leaving comments on some blogs that I really enjoy reading or ran upon a post I found quite interesting and wanted to comment, only to waist my little precious time leaving a comment then noticing it wasn’t going through. This is even after going through the verification of me not being a spammer, just to get accused of being one anyways. I think some blogs just automatically throw me out to the dogs as a spam comment leaver and I end up in that number that says this is how many spam comments we have caught to date for your blog, lol.

Oh well what’s a girl to do. The name is here and I’ve been using for a long time now. The history behind the name is that I made it when I first signed up with my blog account. So, I had it long before creating My Random Day here. I made it when I first created my you should know what type of blogs?? Yep, you guessed it making money, lol, although I haven't added anything new in over a month with them besides a few updates.

I've seen some rather unique screen names out there. So, if you wouldn’t mind sharing I would love to know what lead up to the screen name you blog with?

you can change it by going to your blogger profile, then change the Display Name , there you can change it with whatever name you want. :)
let me know if it works.

My screen name is roguebabe. Many people have thought that it's after the comic book character, but it's not. I just thought that "rogue" sounded 'independant' or 'independant thinking'. And the "babe" part, that's self explanatory.

I just like the sound of mine... :)

Did you get it changed? I knda know what you mean about sounding spammy. I couldn't decide if I wanted to use my nick name or my blog name. I chose my nickname, hehe. I think it sounds more personal but I still used my logo for my pic ;)

I've noticed the screen names too, but I normally always use my name. When I first started out on the Internet years ago I used creative screen names trying to find the one that I thought fit me best. I figured out that although people are probably mispronouncing my name I just like seeing me around being me. :)

FickleMinded, see that's a cute name. Thanks, yeah I thought about changing it but since I have been using MakingMoney or when it's taken I add a extra character but I guess that name is more known by me in communities and networks. :/

roguebabe, that's nice thanks for sharing it's nice to know if you just randomly selected a name or actually thought up one.

Cashmere, lol yeah yours does have a nice ring to it, I like it.

Riah, nope still here, lol. I notice many do use their blog name especially when it's a short one. :)

Petula, You must have commented while I was already in here, not to mention I'm sitting here watching T.V. Lol. I hear you with being known as me, that's great. I think I pronounce your name right but don't hold me to it, lol ;)

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with being labeled as spam. There has to be a way of changing it in your profile...but, you know the problems I have with technology...

I came up with my screen name for simplicity-sake. It's the same one I use for email, im, etc. When I was first started my practice, I was told that everyone should know what you do (for marketing/ attracting business purposes), so I got used to using "atty" prior to blogging. Even though that's not my blog's purpose, I keep the name out of habit. I still leave my name at the bottom of each comment for that down-home personal feel.

Hi Naye!

I struggled with this at first as well. My original site as you know was called Retailsavingsonline.com way too long for a screen name (or web site url for that matter). At the time I used either rsonline or skins_fan (Washington Redskins). However now that I switched my site to Coupondad.net I have also changed my screen name most places. Now I use simply CouponDad.

stopping by from EC to drop and say hi
as for my SN it is a shortened version of my name

attygnorris, lol, technology is head wrecking at times isn't it.. Oh okay simplicity and I can see how the atty would make sense as your profession, I did pick up on that, that's a smart thing to do and of course anyone that reads with yo know you love to write.

LOL at down home feel, I know what you mean. I'm still thinking about the change either way I still read on regardless if I'm unable to comment.

Coupon Dad, Hi there!! I do remember the retail savings site, great coupon savings I had to ad to my fav's. Coupon Dad sounds great for both url and SN, changing to Naye at most places that allow is a great idea. Name recognition goes a long way.

georgie, thanks for stopping to say hi along the drops. The hearts around your SN is so cute, the shorter the better :)

I know if I do change I want me a cute siggy to Naye!!!

Hi I discovered your blog while browsing another blog. It was your name that caught my attention. lol My profile name matches my site address and I did that purposefully for uniformity. The history behind it is long and a rather complicated story. But to cut to the chase it another name for the island I'm from. The name is pronounced "kiss-kay-yah". Everyone always mispronounces the name. I really should have gone for a less complicated name. Oh well...

I wish someone would and could tell me how to leave a hot link when they leave a comment.

I would love to hot link my name. If anyone comes by and can and is willing to tell me my addy is http://shinade.blogspot.com

I found the name shinade just searching around like you would for baby names.

It was the first time I had seen it spelled this way. It is ancient Gaelic and translate as....'The Graciousness Of God'!

Now normally I am the only one who knows this. but, the moment I saw the translation I thought well I certainly can use all the Grace of God possible so I started using it.

I'm glad to see Ms. Willa was able to tell you how to change your name!

Happy day:-)

Quiskaeya, well knowing that my name brought you over I will take that as a great thing :)Thanks for letting me know how you found me, another reason for me not to change (sigh). Uniformity is a great thing and no, no no I wouldn't have pronounced that right, but as long as we have have no idea if we say it right, you're fine, lol! Thanks for the visit!

Shinade, you are so creative! What a awesome way to come up with a screen name. Unique spelling with a great meaning to it, how nice. Happy Day to you too and if I find out about the hotlink I'll update you!

How funny because I saw you following one of my new favorite blogs and ALMOST didn't click over but here I am!! I think your fine as long as you don't list it when linking up for blog carnivals. Speaking of, Two Cents Tuesday is up and running. Feel free to link up, as long as you don't spam anyone ;)
